Glorias Social Housing

The first of the objectives is to solve the border situation between the Eixample blocks and the Glorias area, where isolated buildings appear in height around the open space. The situation requires a typological symbiosis between closed block and open block, which must necessarily gain density through towers, in order to create quality public spaces and positive formal relationships with the direct context.Following the division of the plot into 4 homogeneous plots, we proceed to concentrate the building masses on the perimeter of the area of action to generate the maximum distance between blocks, consolidate the existing urban plot and generate a quality public space inside. The four buildings form two open U-shaped blocks, which rotate on themselves, articulate at one end and elegantly stagger in 3 levels, to save the slope. These blocks open to the Mercat dels Encants and Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, creating two permeable public spaces from the outside, which help reduce the visual impact of the complex through the succession of planes and variable depth.
